WGST originally signed on as WBBF in 1924 and changed to its current call a year later when the station was handed over to the Georgia School of Technology.
The station operated on 270 metres with a power of 500 watts during the time of the QSL verification - note the overprint reflecting the WGST callsign over the original WBBF call.
WGST was one of the few stations from the U.S. which was heard by Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd at the South Pole on his first expedition in 1929.
